ABOUT NFFL
The Novato Flag Football League (NFFL) is a youth sports organization committed to offering a positive, skill-building experience through the game of flag football. Focused on fun, fitness, competition, and teamwork, the league provides a safe and inclusive environment for young athletes to develop their passion for the sport.
ELIGIBILITY & DIVISIONS
The NFFL is open to ALL 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Participation is NOT limited to Novato residents — all eligible athletes are welcome and encouraged to participate. We offer separate BOYS’ and GIRLS’ divisions.
BOYS’ DIVISIONS
The boys compete in a fast-paced 7-on-7 style of play utilizing the full width of the field. Divisions are separated by grade level. This is a competitive division where scores and standings are kept, playoffs are held, and a champion is crowned.
GIRLS’ DIVISIONS
The girls compete in a 5-on-5 style of play utilizing a quarter of the field. This division begins with an introduction to the sport and gradually progresses into a competitive schedule of games where scores are kept, playoffs are held, and a champion is crowned. With this gradual approach, we encourage girls of all experience levels to participate.
TEAMS & DRAFT
Unlike other flag football leagues in the area, NFFL teams will be formed through a Player Evaluation and Draft Process. This ensures balanced and competitive teams within each division, promoting a fun, fair, and competitive playing experience for all. This is one of the most important aspects of our league since its inception. No more stacked squads or runaway standings, just tightly matched games all season.
COACHES
Every team is coached 100% by high school student-athletes, bringing energy, leadership, and a fresh perspective to the field. Parents get to enjoy the action from the sidelines — just the way youth sports should be. Student-Athlete coaches will receive compensation and/or service hours for their participation.
